Our Lady of Good Counsel School
studioHuB architects has been engaged by Our Lady of Good Counsel School for a seismic upgrade and renovation to a 1957 wood frame building totaling 21,353 SF. In addition to seismic mitigation, opportunities to enhance the building with architectural, mechanical and electrical improvements, are underway.
Early within the investigative process, a Construction Manager was engaged, and with a full consultant team, more detailed analysis of footing depths and wood truss connections, mechanical and electrical review, have been conducted. Numerous options have been investigated, and the preferred schematic option, focuses on replacing the building envelope, removal of the north end of the building, upgrading the classrooms with a seismic diaphragm, new LED lighting and ACT. New glazing and access to the multi-purpose hall, with a focus on accessibility, natural daylight, indoor-outdoor connection, allows for better use of the semi-basement space. Demolition of the music portables will allow for the new exterior concrete buttresses and will better integrate the music class within the school. Anticipated completion Spring 2022.
