School District No.48 (Sea to Sky) is undertaking steps to create universal and gender neutral washroom facilities in each of its facilities. The goal is for each school to give students a safe and accessible choice of washrooms: boys, girls or gender neutral/universal facilities

The document, designed by studioHuB architects, sets the guidelines for the implementation of universal and gender neutral washroom space, by means of conversion of existing washroom space, and where this is not possible, by creating new facilities.

The document walks the user through a series of steps: first analyze existing washrooms code compliance in quantity and layout. The document guides the user through a number of steps to determine which location is most suitable, and most feasible. The guidelines outline specifications for materials, colours, signage and graphics from a renovation perspective. Completed 2018.
