Vancouver Island Animal Behavior Centre
This new facility is a first of-its-kind for the BC SPCA and in Canada, the animal behaviour centre will be built on Vancouver Island in Duncan, BC. This new facility aims to help the growing number of animals entering the BC SPCA’s care who are fearful, under-socialized and needing significant behavioural support before finding their forever homes.
The facility will provide space to observe and modify animal behaviour, and includes animal shelter spaces, food prep and storage, medical intake rooms, community space, offices, kennels, outdoor dog runs and small animals from cat condos, isolation rooms with enhanced mechanical systems, small animal kennels, loading, storage, training spaces, real life room, by-law officer rooms as well as volunteer and staff washrooms, kitchen and lockers.
studioHuB has worked on the design phases for this facility and is moving to Construction Administration with construction starting early November 2024. Kinetic was awarded the Construction Management contract.
studioHuB is also collaborating with AME and AES as mechanical and electrical consultants.
